Moncler was founded in 1952 by entrepreneurs Réné Ramillion and Andrè Vincent, who resided in the French Alps village of Monestier de Clermont. Starting with manufacturing high quality sleeping bags and tents, they were soon discovered by well-known French mountaineer Lionel Terray who helped create an apparel line which would protect those enduring the harshest climates. By 1968, Moncler had become the official supplier to the French ski team during the Olympics in Grenoble. With entrepreneur Remo Ruffini being named Chairman in 2003, Moncler’s down jacket continued to gain global recognition, making the item the brand’s signature piece. Brand collaborations with Palm Angels, Rick Owens, Craig Green, 1017 Alyx 9sm, and Hiroshi Fujiwara has now earned Moncler additional attention from the fashion world.
