The new project "mononoke・made" by world-renowned artist Takashi Murakami and READYMADE / ©SAINT Mxxxxxx designer Yuta Hosokawa has been launched.
The second drop will be released on Saturday, June 20, at store opening hours in Harajuku, Shibuya, and Toranomon. It will be available on the online store the following week, Saturday, June 27, from 10 AM JST.
This collection features some of Takashi Murakami's most iconic works, including "Jellyfish Eyes," "Kaikai Kiki," "Panda," "Cherry Blossoms," and "Eyeball," as well as "6HP (Six Hearts Princess)," an animation project that has been continuously produced for many years. Each artwork, with its unique background and story, is reinterpreted and transformed into products through mononoke・made's distinct vision.
The lineup includes T-shirts and long-sleeve T-shirts made with original body designs, as well as soccer shirts. Every detail, from the graphic placement and printing techniques to the color schemes, has been meticulously crafted, utilizing the front, back, and sleeves as canvases to express the world of the artwork. Additionally, some items feature playful details, such as subtly hidden characters and motifs, allowing for an enjoyable experience of deciphering the art. Furthermore, all items incorporate the vintage processing techniques that Yuta Hosokawa has cultivated over many years. Manual aging and painting processes give each piece a unique character. The soccer shirts, for instance, feature original buttons made of 925 sterling silver, highlighting luxurious details that go beyond typical apparel. The names "Kaikai" and "Kiki" are derived from the 16th-century painter Kano Eitoku's work, which was described as "Kaikai Kiki = strange yet captivating." As the name of Murakami's company, they embody the essence of Japanese art in a contemporary form. The wild and unconventional "Kiki" was created first, followed by the studious "Kaikai" as a contrasting character.
